Launching from the lily pad!

Jan 18 2016

We are very excited to announce the launch of our Toad People crowdfunding campaign, along with the release of the trailer!

Crowdfunding is a way to contribute money online for a specific project you support. Your contribution can range from just $1 to $5,000 or more, and if you choose, it can come with a perk.

We are aiming to raise $20,000 for Toad People to cover filming, sound editing, music composition, post-production editing, community outreach and screenings.

We’re calling out to everyone who cares about saving species at risk to join us and become Toad People.

For over 35 years, the Wilderness Committee has worked to preserve wilderness and wildlife across Canada. We’ve helped gain protection for millions of hectares of critical wildlife habitat, celebrating precedent-setting legal victories for many species along the way, like the greater sage-grouse and killer whale.

In addition to Toad People, the Wilderness Committee has produced a series of nine short films about unique and threatened BC species such as the barn owl, phantom orchid, badger and duskywing butterfly. You can check them out here.

Of all the wildlife stories we have told, the journey of the western toad is the most heartwarming and inspirational, which is why we have chosen to feature these amazing amphibians as the stars of our biggest film project yet.

Your participation in the Toad People crowdfunding campaign will help engage people and expand our capacity to defend endangered species like the western toad. There are also some sweet perks on the table.

For just $1 you’ll become an official Toad Person. For $25, you’ll be the proud recipient of a personalized thank-you card from the Toad Team. Contributing $250 makes you a VIP guest at the fall 2016 premiere of Toad People (date TBA). Contributors of $1000 or more could have the experience of a lifetime on a private field trip with one of our wildlife biologists.

Our crowdfunding goal is to raise the $20,000 needed to finish the project and show the film in communities across BC. Will you help us make it happen?
